Position Summary
Set up, adjust, operate and maintain CNC by exacting dimensional and finish requirements. Edit programs at the machine computer console. Dress wheels to obtain desired contours. Maintains a high productivity rate and constantly strives to improve productivity without jeopardizing product quality.
Essential Functions
- Set up and operate some CNC lathes and mill with minimal supervision.
- Make machine adjustments as required to maintain print specifications
- Maintain proper documentation of data and collaborate with management and department lead
- Inspect faces, heights and diameters using various metrology equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gages and drop indicators to determine product conformance.
- Load and unload machines as per the cycle time noted on the router
- Determine when wheels and/or tools need replacement
- Assist in determining tooling & fixturing needs
- Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems.
- Move machine controls to index work pieces, and to adjust machines for pre-selected operational settings.
- Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
- Study drawings, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, toll requirements, and operation sequences.
- Produces assigned parts to specifications while meeting performance standards
- Maintains equipment according to daily and weekly schedules
- Notifies supervisor and other personnel of production problems and assists in identifying and correcting these problems
- Maintaining a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
- Acts in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment
- Pays close attention to the details of the tasks being performed in the area
